FaZe vs MOUZ Prediction: MOUZ will be nervous

FaZe has not yet secured a place in the IEM Rio 2024 playoffs. Everyone is already accustomed to the fact that Karrigan's team's path to the stage will be thorny and complicated and will inevitably take them down the field. However, there is little doubt that the legendary captain will play in front of the Brazilian public. Why is that?

Firstly, despite recent results, FaZe is performing exceptionally well. In the last match against Team Liquid, we saw a good version of Broky. The Latvian sniper is not always stable, but he can make a difference on the server when he feels like shooting. Usually, frozen and ropz were strong, but on Dust II, karrigan reminded us of himself - the captain dealt over a hundred damage per round and was the best on Team Liquid's second map. Second, FaZe relies on individual skill andn a great deal of experience performing at the tier-1 level. Simply put, the players don't have shaky hands regarding elimination matches. These guys are psychologically sound, and in critical situations, they are able to pull themselves together and turn the map in their favor.

Not so long ago, MOUZ was at the top of the HLTV rankings, but after the summer break, Mice's form dropped considerably. The team started to slip after top-4 finishes at the Esports World Cup 2024 and the IEM Cologne 2024. First, a top-3 finish at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 #2, even though the team could have easily qualified for the Grand Final on paper. Then came the ESL Pro League Season 20, where MOUZ didn't make it out of the group. And in Rio, MOUZ are not playing at the top of their game. The team is now fifth in the HLTV standings, but the positions are shaky - FaZe and Eternal Fire are very close.

In Brazil, MOUZ faced paIN Gaming (13:11), FURIA Esports (1:2), and Complexity (2:0). Against the local teams, the Europeans struggled to the bottom of the ladder. The match against Complexity was won on two overtime maps - luckily, the Americans were confused twice in the extra rounds. MOUZ usually easily made it through the group stage, but the ESL Pro League Season 20 saw a dramatic change in that tradition. On an individual level, Jimmphat and Brollan stand out for keeping their scores in line with the yearly average. However, torzsi and xertioN have dropped significantly, and they are unable to overcome the bar of positive HLTV ratings in Rio.

The final spot in the IEM Rio 2024 playoffs will be fought on principle. Half a year has passed since the last meeting, and both teams have come a long way. But the essence remains the same: MOUZ will be nervous on the server, and FaZe will have the experience and mental edge.
