Qualifiers for the upcoming Dota 2 key event of the year, The International 2022, end on Wednesday, September 7, in South America. Tempest and Hokori will face off in the lower bracket final to determine the team who will fight Infamous for the slot in the TI11 group stage.

The International 2022: South America Qualifier is an online Dota 2 tournament that will take place from September 3 to 7, 2022. This mini-tournament has no prize pool and features one straight regional berth to The International 2022 group stage and two extra berths to the last-chance qualifier that will take place the day before the main tournament kicks off in Singapore. Twelve teams will compete in South America. Recall that the two strongest South American teams Thunder Awaken and beastcoast have already secured their place at TI11.

Tempest: hard to break

To be honest, I was expecting more from Tempest vs Infamous yesterday, but the first team lost by themselves, once again packing not the most stable heroes. What was easy with Hokori earlier didn't work at all with the formidable Infamous, but Tempest players, I'm sure, are eager for revenge against the main favorite, so they will go into the match with Hokori with full concentration.

On the whole, just like in the CIS, in South America those who were initially supposed to get to Singapore got a ticket and there should not be any sensations, which means everything will be according to the script for the final game day: Tempest passes Hokori in the losers' final and loses to Infamous in the battle for the slot. The scenario is 80% over, so that's what I'm basing it on.

Tempest played their first match against Infinity (2-1). Then they beat Hokori (2-0) and lost to Infamous (0-2) yesterday. This tournament will be the first international LAN for the team.

Tempest is a new unit in the South American region, replacing the defunct Lava team. It was a shame to lose such a squad, as the guys finished fourth in the elite division of the regional DPC Spring League. Tempest received the right to play in the elite division instead of Lava, but the new team's lineup was far from the same. The only players who moved from Lava to the new squad were the first position carry Mnz and the fifth Mjz. These Peruvian players are experienced and key to the latest team's game plan. I should also mention the Ecuadorian foursome sl4d1n-, who transferred to this squad from Infamous. The two Sebas and the three DrakenN are all newbies to me, coming from some tier-3 teams, but the important thing is that they get results.

Tempest finished the summer DPC league in South America in fourth place, and for this qualification, the Peruvians are second in the DPC points rating, behind only Infamous.

Before this qualification, Team Tempest participated in ESL One Malaysia 2022 quals and was close to success, but lost 0-2 to the region's strongest team Thunder Awaken in the losers' final. The Peruvian team had not played anywhere else, preparing fruitfully for this critical start.

Hokori: task done, no worries

Yesterday's game day was less of a challenge for Hokori than it was a long one. After losing to Tempest, the guys fell to the lower bracket, and held two matches yesterday: first against No Runes (2-0), and then against Mad Kings (2-0). Much was expected from the second confrontation, with the opponent having sensationally beaten many strong teams. Still, Hokori didn't really feel that, leaving the oppoenents without tickets to Singapore.

The Hokori players got off to a good start in this qualifier. They put up a real fight against the very experienced old Brazilians from Wolf Team, but the Peruvians won 2-1, and then failed to cope with Tempest (0-2). Most importantly, they won the lower bracket and snatched a slot to Singapore, so this day is more of a formality. However, the guys will obviously not mind an invite to the group stage of TI11. On paper, One has to understand that this Peruvian team is only in its third year and it clearly doesn't have any big wins. The team finishes this DPC cycle with mixed success. In all three rounds of the regional DPC league, Hokori has played in the top flight. In winter, the players settled for sixth place. In spring, they climbed to the third position and were close to qualifying for the major, and in summer round, they took last place and dropped out of the elite, but that's not what matters now...

In July, the team stepped up with two replacements. Lumière, who played for Infinity and Infamous this year, took over the first position. It is noteworthy that this Peruvian played for Hokori in 2020 and started the winning streak for that team, and now he is back to try his luck and qualify for The International for the first time. The position of the four is taken by the Brazilian player Thiolicor, who played on the Peruvian team from February to June. Still, after failing in the regional league, he was kicked and apparently not having found a decent replacement - called up again before qualifying for TI11.

For two months, the team was in full swing: they performed very well in the indoor qualifications for ESL One Malaysia 2022 (the 4th place), losing the first game to Tempest (1-2), Hokori began to tear into the lower bracket, getting through their opponents from Ukumari (2-0) and Infamous (2-0) without any problems. They even gave battle to the formidable Thunder Awaken, losing to the strongest team in the region with a score of 1-2. After those quals, Hokori took part in two tournaments, the TodayPay Invitational Season 1 and the Thunderpick Bitcoin Series, which they won without any problems.
