The Chinese team had no trouble coping with the Asian team BOOM Esports (2-0) in the first round of the playoffs. And to be honest, OG does not look like a team that can now stop the likes of PSG.LGD, even on one map.
PSG.LGD won Group A ahead of schedule, losing in only one map. The only team that could defeat xiao8 was Soniqs. The game of the world leader so far is amazing. If the opponents could not beat them in BO2, then what chance do they have in the BO3 format match?
We do not have to tell much how strong PSG.LSD is. The Chinese team will be the odds-on favorite in all tournaments they attend. Since TI10 we haven't seen Chinese teams on the international arena. The whole region missed the first major in Sweden due to covid restrictions, but in July, the formidable Chinese got out and took part in the tournament in the UAE, Riyadh Masters 2022. The Arabian tournament was not so easy to play, because all the top players except Asians had gathered there and raffled off 4 000 000 dollars in prize money. PSG.LGD players triumphed, destroying Team Spirit (2-0) in the final.
This Arabian tournament can be considered a preparatory one. First of all, this was the first time since TI10 that Chinese teams participated in an international match. Second, the PSG.LGD players had to be in top form before the main event; they had played the Summer Regional with their hands down, even refusing to play one of the re-match matches. Why, they can afford it, they're in the major, and most importantly, they got a ticket to TI11 a long time ago.
In my opinion, PSG.LGD now can be called the most stable team in the world if they are motivated enough. It is worth realizing that xiao8 team won the first and second DPC league in China and both regional finals that Valve organized for the Chinese region instead of the majors. In the summer tour, the team finally relaxed because the main task was accomplished ahead of schedule. Even without going to the last match of the replay, xiao8 team explained that they want to focus on preparing for international starts, and here is one of them.
The squad of this team has been unchanged for many years and the main intrigue in the upcoming summer international tournaments is how many times PSG.LGD will allow someone to beat them if anyone is capable of it at all now.
OG: trying to impress
Team OG defeated their European counterparts from Entity (2-1) in their first playoff match. After losing the first map, they pulled themselves together and won with better drafts.
OG has an extremely hard time at the group stage. The European team finished it with two wins over RNG (2-0) and Thunder Awaken (2-0) while losing to PSG.LGD (0-2) and Outsiders (0-2), and three draws with Team Liquid (1-1), Fnatic (1-1), and Soniqs (1-1). In order to stay in the upper bracket, the Europeans have to play better than RNG who have the same number of point. Still, the current opponent is no easier.
The current OG team continues to hold the brand of an aggressive squad, and that style of play helped them win the first major of 2022 and perform well in all regional leagues, resulting in a guaranteed trip to TI11.
We should note that at the Riyadh Masters 2022 in late July, OG was playing at full strength. Finally, Misha solved all the problems. However, the OG support was not allowed to the second major again due to visa problems. In the USA, the legendary Ceb will stand in again, but could he prepare something besides his Swedish Windranger that won't surprise anyone anymore?
Head-to-head encounters
PSG.LGD and OG have played each other twice this year and both times the Chinese team won. In July, the Arab tournament saw the score at 2-1, and in this major, it was 2-0 in the group stage.
