Infamous vs Tempest Prediction: Rehearsal for the Grand Finals of the South American Qualifiers

Qualifiers for the upcoming Dota 2 World Title event, The International 2022, will continue in the South American region on Tuesday, September 6. Infamous and Tempest will meet in the third match of the next game day to determine the first grand finalist of these qualifiers.

The International 2022: South America Qualifier is an online Dota 2 tournament, September 3-7, 2022. This mini-tournament has no prize pool and offers one direct regional ticket to the group stage of The International 2022 and two extra berths to the "last chance" qualifier that will take place before the main event starts in Singapore. In South America, 12 teams will compete in qualification. Recall that the two strongest South American teams Thunder Awaken and beastcoast, have already secured their place in TI11.

Something crazy was shown by Infamous players in the last match against SG esports, especially on the second map. The favorites of these qualifiers chose the strategy of fast play but could not finish early, and there was a carnival of battles. Just so you understand, the main carry was a Batrider, and he took Necrophos and Venomancer to help, the supports - Techies and Tusk. This gang (no other way to describe it) managed to defeat a stable, well-balanced pick with Void in the main roles for almost an hour. The game was spectacular, exciting, and such a performance. Infamous is fascinating to watch, but there is one BUT! Opponents in the form of Tempest players will not forgive the favorite for many mistakes. They now play very coolly and academically without much experimentation in the draft. What spurs them is communication, which sometimes the performers in the Infamous team sin with. 

This game is the first serious test for the favorite, for the first game for Infamous went extremely easy. On the first map, the opponents from Ravens didn't show up at all, so they got technical. On the second map, the opponents somehow resisted the Infamous players on the lines but lost to the Peruvian favorite by a strategy. One thing that calms the teams is that both are already booking tickets to Singapore, but clearly, these two teams will be in contention for the only trip to the TI11 group stage and whichever team will be one step closer to it after this game. 

Team Infamous is one of the oldest teams in the South American region but not the most titled. Formed in late 2015, the organization has only participated twice in The International series tournaments, in 2017 and 2019. 

Taking the situation in the South American region for the 2021/22 season, Team Infamous is always behind its formidable opponents, Thunder Awaken and beastcoast. 

This DPC cycle has been a mixed bag for the Peruvians. Infamous apparently finished the first regional league in second place and finally qualified for the majors, but it was canceled at the last moment. In the spring, the Peruvians failed in the league, finishing the second part of the season in fifth place. In the summer tour, the Peruvian team finished in third place and did not qualify for a direct entry to the TI11. But the leading teams in the region were selected for Singapore so that Infamous can breathe - they are the main contenders for the only direct entry to the TI11. 

The Infamous team updated the roster on the eve of the most important qualifiers. In August, the team replaced two players in the carry position. Leostyle- from NoPing e-sports will now be the new midlaner. The new player for the third position is Frank from SG esports. The organization said goodbye to Parker but reintroduced him a week later. The Infamous team was strengthened by players with experience playing at The International. We do not think that the Peruvians will shoot like in 2019 (7-8 place), but in the group stage through qualification should pass, because in the Singapore meat grinder of "last chance" to get the guys can not, the chances of going to the main event from there is almost zero.

Tempest is a new unit in the South American region, replacing the defunct Lava team. It was a shame to lose such a squad, as the guys finished fourth in the elite division of the regional DPC Spring League. Tempest received the right to play in the elite division instead of Lava, but the new team's lineup was far from the same. The only players who moved from Lava to the new squad were the first position carry Mnz and the fifth Mjz. These Peruvian players are experienced and key to the latest team's game plan. I should also mention the Ecuadorian foursome sl4d1n-, who transferred to this squad from Infamous. The two Sebas and the three DrakenN are all newbies to me, coming from some tier-3 teams, but the important thing is that they get results. 

Tempest finished the summer DPC league in South America in fourth place, and for this qualification, the Peruvians are second in the DPC points rating, behind only Infamous. 

Before this qualification, Team Tempest participated in ESL One Malaysia 2022 quals and was close to success, but lost 0-2 to the region's strongest team Thunder Awaken in the losers' final. The Peruvian team had not played anywhere else, preparing fruitfully for this critical start. 

Tempest played their first match against their Infinity opponents (2-1). I wouldn't say it was hard, but it wasn't easy either. Overall, South American qualification is terrific, with many equal opponents. Still, only Tempest could compete with Infamous for the only direct trip to the group stage of TI11, especially after we saw them play against Hokori (2-0). Many rated Hokori for the Singapore TI11 "last chance" tournament. However, they've fallen down so far and still have two games to play before the third available slot, but not about them now. Tempest - showed extremely reliable play. Their Earthshaker should be banned or stolen because he can't drag their team to the grand final with it. For this team, the fight with Infamous is also a good test, but I have to mention that this summer Tempest team improved their game and even defeated Thunder Awaken, which is a bell for all their opponents.

It is difficult to pick a favorite, although the bookmakers highlight Infamous in this regard. Everything will not be so easy for the nominal favorite, and therefore we suggest that the main bet to take a total over 2.5 maps. The experiments of Infamous will not do the team any good, so we will risk to offer a victory in the match of Tempest team. For the fans of high odds, we'll put a spot on the exact score 2:1 in favor of Tempest.
