BOOM Esports vs RSG Prediction: Team RSG will continue to surprise with good play

On Saturday, July 02, the fourth game week of the Southeast Asia Regional DPC Dota 2 League's third round will continue. BOOM Esports and RSG will play in the first match of the next game day.

DPC SEA 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I is an online Dota 2 tournament that will take place from June 08 to July 14, 2022. Eight of the strongest teams from the Southeast Asian region will compete for $205,000. In addition to cash prizes, the teams will fight for three major titles and the important DPC points needed to qualify for T11.

Throughout the DPC cycle of the 2021/22 season, BOOM Esports has been one of Asia's most formidable forces. The team won the winter tour. In the second spring tour, due to a mistake in the first game (they got those losses for not showing up for the match), they became the vice-champion and still went to the majors, where the guys performed rather mediocre. 9-12 place is not what the Filipinos hoped for without the presence of Chinese teams.

On the eve of the final third summer round of the regional league, the BOOM Esports lineup, expectedly, has not changed. And why break what works. But the game is far from perfect like it was in January this year.

Fatigue is accumulating, and just the first match this summer against Team SMG (2-1) indicates that. So there is little confidence in the BOOM Esports team's confident victories this summer. The team favorite lost to Talon Esports (1:2), so BOOM is extremely important not to lose again. The good thing for them was a series of games against potential underdogs. The resistance of Nigma Galaxy SEA (2-1) and Polaris Esports (2-0) in the past fights has already been suppressed. But the team RSG does not look like a serious outsider, given that this team from the second division is now the interim leader in the table in the higher Asian division.

What is the phenomenon behind RSG's success in its debut season? First, the specifics of the region. If we take all three regional leagues in the 2021/22 season, we see a trend of elite debutants breaking into the top 4 of the region. In the winter, they were players of the team SMG (4th place), in the spring - Polaris Esports (4th place), and now it is RSG, and let's be honest, they are not far behind fellow debutantes from Talon.

Players RSG was able to wow the community in their debut match in the elite team T1 (2-1). The debutants had a very difficult calendar at the start. Afterwards, there was a game with Fnatic (1:2), in which the guys could prove themselves, though they lost in the end. Games with the region's leaders showed that RSG is a strong team and at least does not stand in the second division. The previous champions of the second division, Polaris Esports (2-1) and Team SMG (2-0), also failed to cope with RSG, so after the success in the match with Nigma Galaxy SEA (2-0), debutant elite even broke into first place in the top division.

RSG is a fairly old and well-known Asian tag on the radar in Dota 2 in 2018 and 2019. After that team didn't qualify for The International 2019, the players managed to play in a couple more tournaments and discontinued their humble existence near the end of the year. The RSG team returned to the pro scene only this spring.

The organization signed an amazing mix of the open Asian qualifiers ChubbyBoiz, and he surprisingly just took out all the opponents in the second division. In the offseason, the team managed to play in the BTS Pro Series Season 11 tournament but was not impressed with his game, taking 5-6th place in this tournament without much effort.

What's the phenomenon? Good drafts and clean execution. Yes, there was some luck, especially in the unstable play of some teams-favorites of the region, but overall, with this game, the guys are worthy of going even to the majors. They look better than even the conditional T1.

RSG will be able to take at least one map in this confrontation, so my main prediction in this fight is a handicap 2 (+1.5) on the maps for 1.65.

I expect three maps in this game and Total Over 2.5 maps for 2.11.

I'll take the risk but still offer you the variant with the victory of RSG in the match at 3.12. The risk is big, but bookmakers underestimate the current leader of the table, although they played in the lower league in the spring.
