The region leader stalled last week. beastcoast came close to losing against NoPing e-sports but lacked the skill to shut down their big-name rival, but Infamous was able to show early slackness the next day and capped off the series with a 2-1 win, inflicting the first defeat for beastcoast of the season. The most important thing is that the theoretical chances of not getting into the majors are there, but there are still chances. It's important not to make any more mistakes because the main rival, Thunder Predator, is still to play, and a few losses could take yesterday's leader to a replay for a slot in the majors.
The beastcoast team has continued to play in the same lineup since 2019, a change not even triggered by poor play at TI10, although they were the best team in the region at that tournament, getting at least into the play-off stage. Superbly, the boys continue to play their region in the new DPC cycle.
2-0 victories over Hokori, Lava (2-0) and APU King of Kings (2-0) make the beastcoast team the standings leader, and there's little doubt that they will qualify for the majors, albeit if they do. In general, the South American teams go to the majors. After all, beastcoast have already flown past the majors. We are talking about the Singapore tournament, which the first DPC league champions of 2021 missed due to covid problems. Pandemic was not an issue at the Kyiv majors, but the uncertainty of the venue and timing of the first major in 2022 is still daunting.
Looking at all the teams in South America, it's hard to imagine who can realistically face beastcoast, nothing in this region changes in the balance of power.
SG esports: A logical fall
Brazilian team SG esports was a real discovery of the region in the last DPC cycle. The team was selected for the TI10, where they could not even get out of the group, and the lineup did not stay long in this organization, dispersed to different stacks in search of a better life.
The new SG esports squad players are far from the skill level of the departed squad, so the team's performance dropped, and they deservedly finished at the bottom of the South American standings and dropped out of the first DPC league 2022. The team has lost to all their opponents. There is nothing good to say about their play, so this will be a farewell meeting, and it is not certain that we will see SG esports back in the elite in 2022 if the organization does not make replacements.
