CTBC Flying Oyster: Time to avenge the finals

CTBC Flying Oyster's performance on this split was as good as the last one, but the team made some bad mistakes, so they took 4-5 place in the standings with a score of 12-6. Due to a tie score, the guys had to play a tiebreak for fourth place against Frank Esports, who could not compete with CTBC Flying Oyster. The playoff stage itself started out pretty easy for the guys. In the opening game, the guys again met with Frank Esports, which they easily defeated with a score of 3-1 on the maps. Today CTBC Flying Oyster will meet PSG Talon, which will be difficult but possible to beat.

CTBC Flying Oyster is a Taiwanese cybersports organization owned by CTBC Taiwan, which also owns the CTBC Brothers baseball team and the New Taipei CTBC DEA basketball team. CTBC Flying Oyster joined League of Legends and PCS cybersports after acquiring the PCS Hong Kong Attitude slot, replacing a team that had competed in League of Legends since 2013.

The organization had a pretty good spring split. After finishing the group stage in third place, CTBC Flying Oyster advanced to the grand final in the upper bracket, losing only one map in three matches (that was in the upper bracket final; CTBC Flying Oyster defeated PSG Talon 3-1 on the maps), but PSG Talon pulled out a 3-2 win on the maps in the final, making it to MSI 2022. The organization did not make any substitutions before the summer split.

PSG Talon: The main favorite of the tournament

PSG Talon got off to a great start in this split. In the whole group stage, the organization lost only four times, which did not affect the results, by which PSG Talon reached the playoff stage from first place. The guys' first opponent will be CTBC Flying Oyster, who are looking to avenge last year's finals.

PSG Talon (formerly Talon Esports) is a professional eSports organization created in partnership with Paris Saint-Germain eSports. In 2019, Talon Esports was announced as one of 10 teams participating in the PCS. Their roster was announced in 2020 and consisted of Hanabi, River, Candy, Unified, and Kaiwing, and they won their debut season by defeating Machi Esports 3-2 in the spring finals. Unfortunately, MSI 2020 was canceled, which meant the team had no meaningful international debut. Despite this, they met the Vietnamese teams at the Mid-Season Showdown and won the title, defeating Team Flash 3-1 in the final. Ahead of the summer season, they teamed up with Paris Saint-Germain eSports to rebrand themselves as PSG Talon. They finished second after a 0: 3 loss to Machi Esports in that split. At Worlds 2020, PSG Talon finished 9-12 after a 2/4 record in their group. In 2021, PSG Talon signed Maple. They went 17-1 in the regular season and beat J Team and Beyond Gaming to win the title and qualify for MSI 2021. At MSI 2021 itself, the guys finished 4th, securing a spot in the first pool for their region at Worlds 2021. PSG Talon went undefeated in the summer of 2021 but lost a game to Beyond Gaming in the playoffs, ending their streak. Despite this, they won the split, beating Beyond Gaming 3-2 in the finals. This led to them qualifying directly for Worlds 2021. They started their first week well, going 2-1 with wins over Hanwha Life Esports and Fnatic, but the team lost the second week and dropped to 9th-12th place with a 3/3 record, behind Royal Never Give Up and Hanwha Life Esports. After Worlds, the lineup suffered several replacements, with which they advanced to the new season.

2022 began with a group stage that PSG Talon finished in first place with a 16-2 statistic, but in the playoffs, initially, CTBC Flying Oyster sent PSG Talon 3-1 to the lower bracket, from which the guys made it to the grand final and there beat the same CTBC Flying Oyster 3-2, thus making it to MSI 2022. The Mid-Season Invitational itself got off to a terrible start for PSG Talon. In the opening match, the guys lost to the Brazilians of the RED Canids without a single kill. In the second match, where the Chinese from Royal Never Give Up were waiting for them, PSG Talon changed their mid and let Azhi play. This did not yield any success at the end of the match, but the guys looked more confident than in the first meeting. In the third match, the Turks from İstanbul Wildcats were waiting for them, who lost to the guys from PSG Talon in 23 minutes. On the final day of the group stage, when the guys had to play three matches, PSG Talon took a victory in a fundamental meeting against RED Canids, with a score of 3-3 from the group to the Rumble stage. This stage will not be good for them. PSG Talon, Evil Geniuses, and Saigon Buffalo are the two teams to leave the tournament. In the first match, PSG Talon met Saigon Buffalo, where they won quite easily but then were defeated by T1. The second day brought a loss to Royan Never Give Up and Evil Geniuses, but on the third day, PSG Talon beat G2 Esports, leaving them with a chance to make the playoffs. Week 4 also went on a winning note, but not too high. After beating G2 Esports, PSG Talon lost the remaining stages of the Rumble stage, thus leaving MSI. Before the summer split, the organization replaced the jungler and mid.
