Cloud9 vs FaZe
Format: BO3
29.09.2022, 20:00
ESL Pro League Season 16 is a historically important event for the international community. Its importance is almost impossible to overestimate. The title is more important than the massive CS:GO prize pool of 823,000 bucks. The tournament is unique in its system and its duration. Over a month, the participating teams will defend their organization. The tournament features 24 teams divided into 4 groups of 6 teams. The first-place team in the group will receive a slot in the quarterfinals. Second and third-place teams will go on to the first leg of the playoffs.
The group stage will be played in a round-robin system (everybody plays everybody for points in the group). The group stage matches will be played in a BO3 format. Playoffs will be a single elimination system until one defeat, while the grand final will be BOB5.
FaZe will face their first serious rival on their way to another title. A young and ambitious Cloud9 team will try to stop them in the quarterfinals. We'll know whether FaZe will still prove their superiority today very soon.

Cloud9 is already an experienced team, although they consist mainly of young players. Under their old tag, they played a lot of tier-1 events, won titles, and even held first place in the world ranking for a long time. Later, the young and promising Russian players attracted the attention of the American organization Cloud9, and offered them contracts. We had to cling to this was a very good chance for our guys. They won the first tournament (after the Majors), where the boys played under the new tag (IEM Dallas 2022). Signing a contract with the new organization was a good additional motivation for the players. Now, they are ready to show their level, return to the top and win every tournament.
The boys also approached this tournament seriously and showed they were ready to fight. They were lucky to be in the easiest group, where the boys successfully took first place, losing only the last match, which decided nothing for Cloud9. In the quarterfinals, they will meet the FaZe team, who will be Cloud9's first serious opponent. This match will make it clear what form HObbit and company are in. From a statistical point of view, Cloud9 has both strengths and weaknesses in the map pool. The logical choice of location for the confrontation on the part of our guys will be the overpass map, where the opponent shows unstable results. While one of the opponent's best maps, inferno, there will be an opportunity for additional training. But will they manage to surprise and beat such an experienced opponent at the map stage? I doubt it. All that remains is to play your own game, using the strong individual skills of each of the players.

The best map is overpass, with a win rate of 67% for 3 maps played.
FaZe: Ready to take the title, according to Twistzz
karrigan and company had a great finish last season. Since signing "ropz" they have won many top-level tournaments and are legitimately at the top of the world rankings. In the new season, FaZe has already managed to play together and had a pretty good tier-1 tournament.
In this tournament, FaZe team was and will be the favorite in every encounter. For most of the group stage matches, the boys played in absolute domination over their opponents. However, they lost one game that prevented them from topping the group. The playoffs are a different story; any mistake will mean failure and relegation. karrigan understands this like no other, especially as the first Intel Grand Slam title is at stake for the organization and the legendary captain himself.
Their first opponent in the playoffs did not look like a serious threat but still managed to surprise greatly. Not only was Complexity able to pick up their pick, the overpass map, they almost closed the series 2-0 by putting up a very strong fight on inferno, where the match ended with a close score of 16-14, but in favor of FaZe. However, FaZe must have realized they could give a comeback after the first map, so their overpass was more like an experiment: on the support, the lads played respawns and switched roles every round. Will they take such liberties in today's match? Not. In such a deep stage of such a tournament, it is simply impossible to be a weak team, so they have to play at their full strength, which FaZe will demonstrate to avenge their bitter defeat in Dallas, which deprived them of the Intel Grand Slam.
The latest change in the line-up was the arrival of Robin "ropz" Kool.
