West Indies vs. Zimbabwe Prediction: West Indies Looking to Score Another Win to Secure Their Spot

On Wednesday, October 19, the West Indies will face Zimbabwe in match 08 of the current ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers. West Indies were defeated by Scotland in their first match. Zimbabwe overcame Ireland by 31 runs, and another win will be enough for the African team to seal a position in the Super 12.

Following their setback at the hands of Scotland, it's now or never for two-time T20 World Cup winners West Indies, with another loss today against Zimbabwe all but removing them from the competition.

The Windies clearly lack power hitters such as Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell in their middle order, with only Jason Holder at number 7 giving any type of fight against Zimbabwe, who were bowled out for 118 chasing 161.

Zimbabwe's precious victory against Ireland puts them in with a good chance of advancing to the next round of the competition, as they have done since landing in Australia in August.

Zimbabwe is expected to field the same team for this match, with their batsmen wanting to duplicate their success against Ireland, when they scored 174/7 batting first.

West Indies will undoubtedly respond well following their loss to Scotland, but as we have seen so frequently in tournament cricket, a squad may slide into a downward spiral after an early setback. Given the inexperience of many of these Windies players in important ICC events, this may well happen again, as it did for the Netherlands last year. 

As a result, this is a tremendous chance for Zimbabwe, whose batting lineup has shown its value under duress and is riding high on confidence. Consider betting on Zimbabwe to hand the West Indies a second surprise loss.
