The Women’s World Cup was first scheduled for 2021 but got delayed. The first match of the series is to be played on 4 March 2022 at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. New Zealand and West Indies will oppose each other for this game.

New Zealand's last game was against Australia, which they won by 9 wickets. The team fielded first and then had to chase a target of 322 runs, which they completed within 43 overs. Bater, Suzie Bates scored 63 runs before getting caught, while Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr built a score of 161 and 92, remaining not out. Sophie was great as she hit 23 fours and 4 sixes in the innings. As always, not only the NZ batters were on fire; their bowlers were commendable too. They were able to send all players back to the pavilion within 49 overs. Hannah Rowe earned 4 wickets while Sophie showcased her magic, gaining 2. Lea, Hayley, Amelia, and Frances scored a single stump each. New Zealand has been at its best for a while now, evident by its performance in the field. West Indies will have to be pretty prepared to beat the undefeated.

West Indies lost their most recent game to India by 81 runs. The team had to field first as India won the toss and chose otherwise. In the first innings, the WI bowlers did an incredible job of limiting the target and getting all 10 wickets, where Hayley Matthews, Cherry-Ann, and Karishma scored 2 each. All three of them gained the most critical, high-scoring wickets. However, the batters played slower and could not fulfill the targeted score. Shemaine Campbell, 63, Hayley, 44, and Kycia Knight, 23, were the ones who stood in the field the longest. The team could only reach up to 177 runs in 50 overs, at the loss of 9 wickets. West Indies batters would require a better strategy to present a challenge to New Zealand in the upcoming match.
