New Zealand vs. Netherlands: A Historic Start to the Series

The first of three one-day internationals between New Zealand and the Netherlands will be played at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 29. The ODI series will be part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, which will take place from 2020 to 2023. On March 25, New Zealand and the Netherlands were supposed to play a single T20I; however, it was canceled due to rain. The upcoming ODI series would be a morale booster for the Netherlands side, who would be eager to play with confidence against the Kiwis.

In the ODI series, Tom Latham will lead New Zealand as he looks to justify his career in the absence of Kame Williamson, who is busy playing IPL in India. Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, and Colin de Grandhomme will all be important players for them. Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson will lead the fast bowling attack, with Ish Sodhi as the top spinner. They will be hoping to get the series off to a good start.

In the meanwhile, the Netherlands hasn’t had the ideal preparations for the ODI series. In two one-day warm-up matches, they met a New Zealand XI. They put produced a dismal performance, losing both games. The T20 warm-up game and T20I versus New Zealand the next day were both rained out. The Netherlands will continue to be led by Pieter Seelaar. Bas de Leede, Max O’Dowd, and Logan van Beek are all seasoned players for them. To compete with the Kiwis, they must be at their greatest best.

Certainly, the Kiwis have the advantage of playing in their home conditions and winning the game against the Netherlands. The Netherlands would come out with positivity and play competitive cricket, and an upset might just be around the corner.
