Bangladesh vs. Netherlands Prediction: Bangladesh Needs to Up Their T20 Game

On October 24, Bangladesh will face the Netherlands in the 17th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart (Monday). 

In their warm-up match, Bangladesh was defeated by Afghanistan. After defeating the Dutch team in the forthcoming match, the Asian side will want to kick off its World Cup campaign on a high note. Since defeating the West Indies in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Shakib Al Hasan's team has not beaten a Test-playing nation. They just do not have the correct pattern to play T20 cricket. Worse, the constant cutting and shifting isn't helping. Bangladesh's success will once again rest on the shoulders of talismanic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

The Dutch team was defeated by Sri Lanka in their third and final game in the first round. However, the UAE's first-round victory over Namibia assured that the Netherlands advanced to the next round. In Qualifiers, the Netherlands shown a tremendous deal of determination. The Dutch also fought hard against Sri Lanka and came close to triggering an upset. Bas de Leede has demonstrated exceptional all-around abilities. Vikarmjit Singh has also made a furious start. The Netherlands has momentum and should be confident of defeating Bangladesh.

On a normal day, labeling the Netherlands as favorites versus Bangladesh may raise an eyebrow, but given the circumstances, no one should be surprised if the Dutch manage to defeat the Asian team. Bangladesh's T20 fortunes have deteriorated with successive series, and the fact that they were able to achieve straight entry into this round was entirely due to the dismal performances of Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
