In 2022, he faced 38-year-old fellow compatriot Angel Moreno for the EBU men title belt. Jairo won the contest via points after the 12th round. In 2021, under the KO Boxing promotion, Jairo faced Nohel Arambulet and won via unanimous decision. His last TKO/KO victory was three years and four months ago when he faced Francesco Barotti. He is fighting out of Villarreal, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain.

Both fighters truly have a chance of claiming the vacant title belt. They share an equal number of fights, with Iwata suffering a loss as Jairo holds a complete winning streak. Iwata is younger and has had more fights in the last two years than Jairo in his last four. Jairo has seven months to prepare for this bout, while Iwata just had three.
