Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons Prediction: Class difference is too obvious

In the next game of the NBA Summer League, Washington will face Detroit at 01:00 (UTC+3). Bookmakers believe in the Pistons. Will they manage to get their second win in a row?

The Wizards are building a team around Bradley Beal, and their priority is clearly not in youth development, although there are plenty of prospects in the main rotation. For example, Washington drafted Johnny Davis at No. 10, who should strengthen the Metropolitan Club's defensive game. A year ago the Wizards picked up Corey Kispert, but he is not on the Summer League roster. In general, the team has a lot of age-matched players and some of them have NBA experience. Kris Dunn will try to prove himself, and the most experienced is Pierria Henry, who played for a long time in Europe for Fenerbahce, Baskonia, and UNICS Kazan.

The Pistons are another rebuilding team that has brought almost most of their core rotation to Las Vegas, so there's a chance that even Cade Cunningham will be on the floor. Saddiq Bey with Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes are also on the roster, but only the latter two have played in games. Two of Detroit's rookies will be in contention for a spot in the starting five. Jaden Ivey is very good as a passer and can hit from beyond the arc in some games. The Pistons were short on center, so they traded away their draft pick and went with Jalen Duren.

Ivey has already brought his team its first win. The young point guard scored 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting as Detroit defeated Portland 81-78. Isaiah Livers missed a lot from beyond the arc, but the big men were efficient as Stewart and Duren combined for eight of their shot attempts. Saben Lee constantly fouled the opponent, making up for his low field-goal percentage with ten free throws.

The Wizards and Pistons have never met in Summer League play in the last 10 years. As for the NBA regular-season games, Washington has won the previous five games without fail.

Detroit could very well take a shot at winning the Summer League, and the possible appearance of Cunningham and Bey on the floor only increases the chances of the nominal guests. In their game against Portland, the team led by more than 10 points on multiple occasions but let their opponent get very close in the second half. It is unlikely to happen again against Washington. The Wizards have many players who may not end up playing in the best league in the world. Against the metropolitan club's roster, even rookie Ivey looks much more impressive, while the No. 5 overall pick in the last draft may have improved from his last game. I suggest betting on the following outcomes:

• Handicap Detroit (-5.5) for 1.733;
• Total Over (165.5) for 1.71;
• Detroit ITO (86.5) for 1.781.
