San Antonio Spurs vs Sacramento Kings Prediction: Can we see a 250+ points affair here?

NBA midseason is here and we are deep into the rumor mill as the trade deadline is less than a month ago. The picture is getting blurry for some teams as we close in toward the window where we can witness a big-time shuffle across the lineups. In this NBA game, the San Antonio Spurs are going to take on the Sacramento Kings.

The Spurs enter the game after losing 113:144 against the Golden State Warriors despite a 21 points performance by Tre Jones. This was Spurs’ fourth straight loss and they have lost seven of their last eight games, having just 13 wins and piling up 30 losses. They have had one of the toughest schedules but to be honest, their woes have been exposed by even teams that have won fewer than 50% of their games.

While Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell have managed 20+ points a game, the rest of the offense is still raw. With the way the Spurs play defense and regularly give up way more than the league’s average, they needed a cohesive offense. However, their returns are barely surprising, they shipped away their major player DeJounte Murray and didn’t build to make it to the Postseason. They are rebuilding and are on the Victor Wembayama hype train.

Sacramento comes into the game after beating the Rockets 139:114 as Harrison Barnes scooped up 27 points The Kings have won three in a row and they have finally built a much-needed winning streak after more than a month. An easy schedule has helped but overall, the Kings have at least become a strong team that is threatening to penetrate into the postseason with 23 wins and 18 losses thus far.

The Kings have one of the fastest paces in the league and with their ability to score quickly into the shot clock they are able to generate more opportunities than the league’s average. De’Aaron Fox has done his usual diligent due as a scorer but having Sabonis’ rebounding and efficient scoring has helped. Kevin Huerter has been hitting the long-ball whereas Harrison Barnes has now regained his composure.

The Kings have been in a great rhythm offensively and they keep on raising their bar. Their defense needs some work but they will get there with the budding chemistry. The Spurs offense has been decent but their defense is just too lax due to the lack of experience. Thus, this game can cook up a big scoring festival. All in all, I predict a scoreline of 132:123 in favor of the Kings.
