Phoenix Suns vs Golden State Warriors Prediction: A tasty affair indeed

The NBA scene has been in full flow lately and with the loaded deck of players, the action has been amazing. Some teams that were expected to struggle have waived their flags in an exciting way with Portland Trail Blazers storming off to four wins straight-up. The Spurs and the Jazz have been surprising but hey, this is the early part of the season, there is a LOT more action to go. Still, we have been blessed with a blockbuster early on as the Phoenix Suns tackle the Golden State Warriors.

The Suns have started with two wins and one loss. Their only loss has been an OT one against the Portland Trail Blazers. Their wins have been against two packed teams in the Mavericks and the Clippers. In their last game against the Clippers, they took care of business easily, winning 112:95 as Devin Booker lodged second straight 30+ points games to no one’s surprise. They have now limited three teams under 106 in the Regulation and their defense has looked threatening.

Devin has been the heart and soul on the offensive end whereas Deandre Ayton has been the second-best option scoring-wise. Mikal Bridges has underperformed on the scoring end but his calling card is defense, where he has thrived. Chris Paul’ scoring is significantly down but he remains an electric passer. Cameron Johnson, Landry Shamet, Cameron Payne, and Damion Lee have done their bits but the bench looks just a *tad* lean. Overall, the Phoenix Suns are a team that is built to reign over the Regular Season competition.

The Warriors have begun with two wins and a loss. In their last game, they defeated a persistent Sacramento Kings 130:125 as Stephen Curry lodged 33 points. While the Warriors have received the usual great contributions from Stephen Curry(three 30+ points games in a row), their defense especially by second-unit has looked too suspect. Andrew Wiggins has been in tremendous touch whereas Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson pose a huge threat to the defensive end and after a slow start, Poole had a 24 points night against the Kings.

The trouble has been that without Draymond Green, the reserve unit has not given the effort required on the defensive end. James Wiseman has shown huge promise in the middle but he needs to grow further to aid what is a superb starting unit. With Jordan Poole return to form and Steph Curry dissolving defenses, there is no doubt that the Warriors continue to live up to their championship reputation.

We have witnessed enthralling encounters between these two squads repeatedly. There is no doubt that this can be one of them too with all the major players expected to play. Of course, having the home-court advantage helps the Suns whose defense has been a tad better than the Warriors thus far. I feel that this will be a close affair and the Warriors will ultimately end up with a win here. I see a total in the 220-230 range here.
