New Orleans Pelicans vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction: Pels can extend Wolves' woes

NBA is on and we are steadily gearing up for the midseason which is bound to bring a ton of trades, injuries, and the usual rise and fall of various squads. So far, we have seen some highly-rated teams falter while some low-rated teams play better than expected. In this game, one of the highly rated teams the Minnesota Timberwolves will play against the rising New Orleans Pelicans.

The Pelicans head into this affair after defeating the Pacers 113:93 as Naji Marshall had 22 points. This win once again underscored the Pelicans’ depth as the team won without its top scorer, rebounder, and premier defender Zion Williamson. The Pelicans now have won 22 and lost 12 games and are on a three-game winning streak. The team has done a lot of winning without Brandon Ingram who has been out for more than a month. Zion has been playing elite basketball which has raised the Pelicans' level to unprecedented heights. The team has depth and coach Willie Green built a superb culture last season.

The Timberwolves head into this game after losing 110:113 to Miami Heat despite a 29 points performance by Anthony Edwards. This was their third straight loss and they have now lost six out of their nine games. After being one of the best offensive teams last season, the Wolves have lost their way this season and are staring at a tough season where they may be out after the Play-in tournament. In absence of Anthony-Towns, Edwards has been the leading scorer and has accumulated at least 27 points in four of the last five games. D’Angelo Russell is having a rather turbulent season whereas the rest of the unit is missing Malik Beasley a lot who was a sparkplug last season

The Pelicans have done a great job of winning at home and with Zion most likely available to play here, their chances will once again be huge to add another win. The Timberwolves have been struggling on both ends but with Edwards’ play at a huge level, they can stage a big performance. However, depth-wise the Pels have a significant advantage and that is why I predict a 122:110 win in their favor.
