The NBA Regular Season is in full swing and we have entered a phase where trade rumours heat up more than ever and then many of these rumours are confirmed. We saw one big trade already as Rui Hachimura was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Kendrick Nunn and some draft picks. Hachimura will highly likely make his debut here as the Los Angeles Lakers take on the San Antonio Spurs.

The Lakers come into this game after losing 115:133 against the LA Clippers despite a 46 points performance by LeBron James. Once again the Lakers held themselves back after building something and their two game winning streak which involved sensational wins didn’t become a huge momentum booster. Due to these constant disappointments after a ray of hope, the Lakers are now at 26 losses and 22 wins. LeBron makes the mockery of age on a daily basis but he doesn’t have the support around him. Hachimura strengthens the frontline but the team is still missing a viable three-point shooter. Westbrook has averaged around 20 points lately but that hasn’t been enough to put the team over the 50% win mark. The return of Anthony Davis is going to improve prospects a lot.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs come into this match after suffering a 127:147 hammering by the Portland Trail Blazers in another shoddy defensive effort. They have now lost 10 out of their last 12 games and their season record keeps on hitting a new low. Earlier, they had also undergone a 11-game losing streak because of which, their record is 33 losses and 14 wins. This is in line with what experts thought in the beginning of the season. An inexperienced unit that lacks the starpower is always going to suffer such records in a rebuild. As of now, the Spurs fans will largely not mind this considering how they must have their eyes on the next draft, headlined by the incredible talent of Victor Wembanayama. Keldon Jonhosn and Devin Vassell have been two 20+ points scorers and look great fit alongside Victor. Jeremy Sochan has the potential to become an effective two-way Forward as well.

The Lakers played last night and they lost that battle by a big margin. The exhaustion will be there but then the return of Anthony Davis can boost a special run. Matter can be simpler also because they come up against a Spurs team that has played some awful basketball and look in terrible shape. It isn’t an easy pick but I believe the Lakers will fend off the Spurs. I predict a scoreline of 122:116 in favour of the Lakers
