Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction: Lakers refuse to win Preseason games

The NBA is still in the Preseason game and lets be honest, the feel of the Preseason is nowhere near the real thing, which will begin in around 10 days now. This is the part of the season where coaches are still making the final cuts and the feel is just not the same as the Regular Season, in other words, it is much less interesting than what we will see in 10 days. Anyway, the action is still going to be fun as Golden State Warriors will take on the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Warriors are going to begin their title defense on a high note. They sizzled the world with some awesome Playoff moments. The Warriors are of course headlined by Steph Curry, whose shooting stroke remains peerless and who has continued to put in points like an abundant river flow. But then you have a much healthier Klay Thompson, who is ready to regain his 3 and D credentials while Andrew Wiggins proved his worth last season on both ends, making a big contribution in the Playoffs continuously.

The Warriors have one of the best defenders in Draymond Green and the scary part is that with James Wiseman’s return they become an even stronger squad, especially from the inside. The Warriors will surely be on the hunt for a back-to-back title and their team depth looks incredible with Jordan Poole slating in as another top performer. How can you stop this squad? They look stacked more than any other one.

The Lakers had a contrasting season and they just haven’t figured out a way to work the trio of Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook. Russ hasn’t been a huge fit as of now and it will be difficult for coach Devin Ham to get the gears going after the team chemistry collapsed last season. Perhaps, Westbrook will have to improve his defense, because, for all the flake he got, he was active in other areas last season.

Kendrick Nunn’s return will help big-time whereas Austin Reaves seems to have grown. The Center position is not fixed but I believe Thomas Bryant has the tools to succeed at this level as he has proven before. Lonnie Walker bolsters the bench but he is a hit & miss player. So far, the Lakers don’t look like a championship team by any stretch, at best, they look like a fifth-to-eighth-ranked squad that can be vulnerable against elite squads. But when LeBron is at the helm, you never know if a turnaround is near.

The Lakers have now lost nine in a row when it comes to Preseason if we count in their last year’s preseason run. Their preseason play did translate into the Regular Season last time around so this will be a huge mental block again. But in the last Preseason game, the Lakers pretty much fielded a third-string unit. What unit will they field here? In the Preseason, you can’t say which teams will be fielded at the end of the day. At any rate, the Warriors has to be picked here regardless.
