Denver Nuggets vs San Antonio Spurs Prediction: High-scoring affair on cards

The NBA Regular Season is on and what a fantastic season we have had. The stars are not aligning for many squads while others have beaten the projections of the stars as slated by the experts and have risen up to the challenge. Still, there is a long way to go and the early parts can be misleading. Will they turn out to be misleading for the scorching San Antonio Spurs, which will take on Denver Nuggets here?

Maybe the stars have indeed been turning against the Spurs lately. They come into this game after suffering a 106:113 loss against the Clippers. They have lost now two on trot and their offense has been a bit off compared to earlier, however, these are early days and it may as well be back in the groove. The Spurs’ offensive system under Greg Popovich continued to thrive. Keldon Johnson has led the scoring effort and has proved to be one of the best scorers at the wing, accumulating 20+ Points continuously.

When Devin Vassell is healthy, he can turn on the heat as a scorer. Tre Jones has proven to be an effective scorer and playmaker whereas Jakob Poeltl has been a solid all-around passer. Under coach Pop, the Spurs continued to lead the league in assists, following up a season where they also were among the top-two assists makers. It isn’t just that the Guards are passing the ball, the frontline is well-adept at giving hand-offs or hitting the driving or open man.

The Nuggets come into this game after putting on a scoring show and winning 123:110 as Aaron Gordon turned up with 27 points. The Nuggets have won five out of eight games but there have been glaring inconsistencies with their defense. They have a strong combination of guards Murray and Caldwell-Pope, Forwards Gordon and Porter Jr. with their standout Center Nikola Jokic running the show as well as anyone.

With Jokic’s ability to be an all-around threat, they can mount up an offense that is able to rack up big-time production. The play of Gordon can be inconsistent but he is coming with a big night every now and then. Porter Jr. has settled in and has been nabbing big boards, playing stellar defense, and also giving sustainable offense. Murray has elevated his play whereas Caldwell-Pope can stretch the floor. The bench looks better than last year and the inclusion of Bruce Brown has paid off.

The Nuggets have been looking good on the offensive end whereas the Spurs also have a strong playmaking squad. The Nuggets’ defense will need to improve while the same goes for the Spurs, however, in the long run, the Nuggets are expected to do better with much more ammo in their arsenal. I believe this will be a high-scoring game and the Nuggets will come on top here.
