San Diego Padres vs Atlanta Braves: Padres won’t lose 2nd series in a row

After a solid 3-1 road win over underdog Arizona (2-4, 3-0, 5-2, 10-5), the team from San Diego holds its second straight series against a top opponent. And so far, these showdowns have been unsuccessful for the Padres. First, Bob Melvin's team lost in the division series to San Francisco, 4-2, 2-13, 1-2. Now San Diego is losing to the reigning champion Atlanta Braves, 12-1, 2-5, 2-5 so far. The Padres still seem to be self-conscious about their status, showing an inability to establish themselves among the MLB's content players.

Yu Darvish has been named San Diego's starting pitcher for the final game of the series with Atlanta. The 2020 National League second baseman pitched the first 2022 championship game brilliantly, not allowing a single run in six innings of play against Arizona. The second was a failure, with 9 runs allowed in 1.2 innings against San Francisco.

The score in the season series is 2-1 in favor of Atlanta.

Given the team's background in the new season, as well as the series itself, and the completely different level of starting pitchers, betting on San Diego to win looks more than reasonable. It's unlikely the Padres plan to lose their second series in a row, especially while playing at home.
