Oakland vs Detroit Prediction: Will the Athletics Beat the Tigers Again?

Oakland and Detroit will double-header on the first game of the second half of the MLB regular season. We'll pick a few options to bet on the first half. 

Confidently sitting in last place in the American League, the Athletics held their last series before the All-Star break against the second team in the conference, the Houston Astros. Unexpectedly, Oakland outscored a powerful opponent, 5-1, 0-4, 4-3. A stunning and rare success for the Athletics this season.

The starting pitcher for Oakland's first game of the duel-header with Detroit is MLB rookie Zach Logue, 3-4 and with a 5.16 ERA in eight games.

While Oakland had perhaps its best winning streak of the season before the championship break, Detroit had a disappointing road trip to Cleveland, losing all three games, 0-4, 5-6, 0-10, to the local Guardians.

Tarik Skubal will pitch for the Tigers in the upcoming game, going 6-8 and with a 4.11 ERA in 18 starts this season.

Detroit is 1:4 down to Oakland in the season series. That doesn't seem to reflect the balance of power in this matchup. After all, the Athletics are in a much stronger division than Detroit this season. That said, they still beat Houston on occasion. It is quite possible that in the upcoming game, Oakland will beat Detroit. Prediction: Oakland to win.
