Miami vs. St. Louis: Cardinals will start the series in Florida with a win

The St. Louis Cardinals, one of the strongest teams in the MLB in recent years, will play their next series in Miami. There are several options for betting on the first leg of this fascinating encounter.

The Marlins have only one objective for the 2022 championship - to at least repeat the success of the 2020 season when the team managed to make the playoffs for the first time in almost 20 years. And a home series against Philadelphia certainly gave the organization's fans plenty of new hopes. The Marlins defeated a powerful division rival 3 out of 4 games on home soil - 4-3, 7-1, 3-10, 11-3. In such a way, Miami also recovered from their two unsuccessful opening road games - against San Francisco (5-6, 2-1, 2-3) and the Los Angeles Angels (2-6, 3-4).

Jesus Luzardo will start on the pitcher's mound in the first game against St. Louis for the Marlins. In his debut game in the new championship, the 24-year-old pitcher allowed just 1 run and 2 hits in 5 innings against the Los Angeles Angels (3-4).

The Cardinals entered the new championship with new manager Oliver Marmol, for whom this season is his first experience as manager of an MLB team. Despite this, the start of the season shows that the St. Louis club's ambitions have not diminished. The team has made the playoffs three times in a row and surely plans to extend that classy stretch to four seasons.

The Cardinals approach the games in Miami with a 5-3 balance and in first place in the National League Central Division. First, St. Louis handled Pittsburgh 9-0, 6-2, 4-9 at home. Then they beat Kansas, 6-5, at home. Finally, on their first road trip of the season, the Cardinals ended a 2-2 series with division rival Milwaukee Brewers, 1-5, 10-1, 2-1, 5-6.

The pitching for the Cardinals in their first game against the Marlins will be legend Adam Wainwright. In two starts in the new league, the 40-year-old pitcher has a 3.48 ERA, 1-1, 13 strikeouts, but as many as 13 hits in 10.1 innings.

St. Louis, as the start of the 2022 championship shows, remain one of the strongest teams in the National League. Like they did last season when the Cardinals beat Miami in every head-to-head game, the Marlins will have a tough time even at home. In the first game, in particular, the young Luzardo is unlikely to make his second quality start in a row, and Wainwright's experience may well come into play.
