Chicago Cubs vs Cincinnati Reds Prediction: Cubs to open the series with a win

The Chicago Cubs are coming off a series against the Philadelphia Phillies and lost. In that series, the Chicago Cubs started with a 6-2 defeat but bounced back with a 4-10 win in game 2. However, the performance of the Chicago Cubs in the finale saw them score only six runs while conceding nine. Heading into this game, the Chicago Cubs have an 81-78 record, leaving them seated 8th in the National League standings. 

The Cincinnati Reds played the Cleveland Guardians in their last series and struggled heavily. In that series, the road team failed to score in the opener and lost 2-0. However, despite scoring one run in game 2, they conceded six. In the meantime, their finale encounter saw the Cincinnati Reds lose 5-2, extending their defeats to five in seven matches. 

The Chicago Cubs should open this series with a win. Cincinnati Reds have been inconsistent in recent series, and their performance against the Cleveland Guardians was nothing to write home about. With the two teams coming off a poor series performance, I expect them to come all out for this one. Yet, the Cubs look appealing and should win this one.
