The San Francisco 49ers would love nothing more than to exact some measure of revenge on the Los Angeles Rams for their defeat in last year's NFC Championship Game and put behind them the humiliating Week 3 Sunday Night Football setback they suffered at the hands of the Broncos. When head coach Kyle Shanahan's team finally lost to the Rams in February of last year, it ended the team's long run of success against the franchise that would go on to win the Super Bowl two weeks later. A Week 4 victory by the Niners wouldn't make up for the previous three losses, but it would help. And it would aid Shanahan and company in recovering from last Sunday's fiasco in Denver.
Los Angeles Rams - Rams hopeful to make it third consecutive wins
At 2-1, Los Angeles is struggling with what could be its own version of a Super Bowl hangover, and the offensive line isn't quite performing to expectations. The San Francisco 49ers aren't exactly in great shape either, especially considering the possibility that their All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams will be out for the foreseeable future with an injury that could be a high-ankle sprain. Especially when one takes into account how awful quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo played against the Broncos. There doesn't appear to be much evidence to support the claim that he'll have a stronger game versus the Rams when these two teams play each other on Monday Night Football during Week 4 of the NFL season.
Expert Betting Tips
There are two ways the 49ers can bounce back from last week's humiliation. One, Garoppolo looked like Garoppolo, and maybe L.A. takes a page out of Denver's book and stacks the defensive box with five linemen to push Jimmy G to pass more. However, with a statement victory over a Rams club still not quite at the level it was at the end of last season, the Niners can exact some revenge and look to move right back into the middle of the NFC West lead. When considering San Francisco's offensive woes over the course of three weeks and the fact that key players like Williams have been injured, a positive conclusion seems unlikely at best.
