Egypt vs Paraguay Prediction: The two teams have good chances of winning

The football Olympic games continue, and in the quarterfinal encounter, Egypt will play Paraguay at Stade Velodrome in Marseille. The two teams will have their eyes set on the next round of this tournament. Which side gets the result?

Egypt did not get the result they had wanted in their opener against the Dominican Republic, but this team showed they have what it takes to perform at the level. With a goalless draw in their first game in this tournament, Egypt got one past Uzbekistan in game 2, thanks to Ahmed Kouka's 11th-minute strike. 

While their game 3 was the toughest in the group stage, Egypt stylishly defeated Spain 1-2. In that game, Ibrahim Adel was the hero as he scored twice, one in each half, to solidify his side's win. However, while Samu Omorodion scored in the last minute of the game for Spain, the goal was not enough to deny Egypt maximum points in that encounter. 

With just one goal conceded, Egypt had the best defensive record in the group stages of the 2024 Olympics after only hosts France and Japan (zero each).

Paraguay will feel confident going into this game following a brilliant turnaround in performance after a very shaky start. In their opener, Paraguay struggled heavily, especially in defense, and conceded five points to their Japan opponent. 

However, Paraguay took on Israel in game 2, and in that game, two late goals were enough to seal the victory for them after their opponent had leveled the scores twice. In the meantime, this team kept things going against Mali, as Marcelo Fernandez's 5th-minute strike was enough to take them to this quarterfinal. 

Heading into this encounter, Paraguay has the worst record of one of the sides with goals conceded, 7, in the group stage encounter, after the New Zealand side, that conceded 8.

This is tricky to predict, considering the level of play of the two sides and the winning odds. Egypt has yet to be defeated in this tournament, while Paraguay comes into this encounter with consecutive wins after a slow start to the tournament. I expect this one to be close, but I see a defensive-focused game with Paraguay booking the semifinal spot.
