14th November, 2024
European Nations League is back and will feature top European sides who will hope to secure a win. In this Thursday’s fixture, Ralf Dietrich Rangnick's Austria side will be in action against Kazakhstan. However, the English team will travel to play Greece, while Belgium will battle it out against Italy. Below, I will take a look at each game and make a prediction.

This is going to be a difficult task for Kazakhstan to handle despite being the host nation. Austria pulled one of their biggest wins in history, the last break against Norway, and the fact they come in as the better side is a testament to what we could expect here. With Kazakhstan struggling to show solidity in defense, having conceded eight goals in four games and four in the first leg of this encounter, I do not see a different outcome here. Take this game to be dominated by Austria, and a win in each half is a good option.

Belgium vs Italy
Luciano Spalletti's Italy side will look to continue their brilliant performance in Europe, but it will not be an easy task to deal with when they play in Belgium. While Belgium have fallen off their peak since the end of their golden generation, this team will also miss their captain, Kevin de Bruyne, who is injured. Also, Manchester City youngster Jeremy Doku will miss this encounter, and looking at how competitive Italy’s players have been in Europe this season, we can expect them to be the dominant and better team. Belgium could have that momentum boost by playing in front of their fans, but the quality needed to play at the top level is missing for them. Italy will not have an easy task, but they are playing well now and should be able to take advantage of things here.

Greece vs England
Lee Carsley will lead England's side against an in-form Greece team and will hope to show they are ready to compete. While Greece are one of the finest teams in Europe at the moment, they also top Group 2 standings, conceding only once, showing their quality in both offense and defense. While this team shockingly defeated England in the first leg, the Three Lions will look to respond to their first-leg defeat, relying on their top performers, as Harry Kane will lead this team once again. This will be a competitive encounter, with high expectations from the two nations. Yet, I will rely on England in this game despite Greece’s brilliance, as I believe this will be a revenge-like encounter, thanks to their quality squad and flexibility in attack.
