Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder: Thunder keeps hitting roadblocks

Adelaide Strikers won by 18 runs against Sydney Thunder as the Thunder outfit continues to stumble this season. South African duo of Laura Woolvardt and Dane van Niekerk once again sizzled in the middle, as Laura compiled 54 runs in 32 balls while Dane van Niekerk made 58 runs off 46 balls. For Thunder, Sammy Jo-Johnson took two wickets but couldn’t stop Adelaide from making a formidable 176.

Thunder received immense contributions from Issy Wong and Phoebe Litchfield at the top. Tahlia Wilson made 42 runs but took 46 balls chasing a target that required impetus up-front. Phoebe continued her stellar form, notching 40 runs off 28 balls. It was Issy Wong who stole the show for the Thunder by making 43 runs in 17 balls, hitting six sixes but the required rate had climbed too high and Amanda Jade-Wellington got rid of her at the right juncture. Tahlia McGrath had outstanding returns of two wickets for 20 runs in her four overs.

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers: Heat’s top-order shines again

After Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry couldn’t even make it to the 20s, Ashleigh Garnder showed her power game. The batter made 86 runs not-out in just 52 balls and with Nicole Bolton’s flamboyant effort of 38 runs in 24 balls, the Sixers overcame a slow start to make 159 runs. Grace Harris impressed with the ball, conceding just 20 runs in her four overs.

Knock Knock? Who is here? Answer: Once again, Grace Harris with her batting special after shining with the ball. In another incredible batting effort, the top-order and Laura Kimmince finished the job for an imposing Heat squad. Harris made 54 runs in 39 balls, Georgia Redmayne hit a rollicking 27 runs in just 18 deliveries. Meanwhile, Georgia Voll’s 41-ball 48 runs and Kimmince’s 23 off 15 balls rounded off a fantastic all-around batting effort.
