02:25 AM UTC: Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers
Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers meet for what will be each squad’s second game of the season. Both teams enter with a win and will like to capitalize upon the exploits of their first matches.
Adelaide Strikers must thank Tahlia McGrath for the first win, who turned up the heat with the bat first, scoring 42 runs, and then claimed three crucial wickets to eke out a win. Madelina Penna also played an important knock of 35 runs and took a stunning catch. The bowling attack of Sarah Coyte, Amanda Jade-Wellington, Darcie Brown, Tahlia McGrath, Dane Van Niekerk, and Jemma Barsby provided both versatility and control. The batting didn’t click that much in the last match but Dane van Niekerk, Katie Mack, Laura Woolvardt, McGrath, Bridget Patterson, and Penna can pose challenges in long term.
Meanwhile, the Renegades won due to their spin duo of Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux, who combined for five wickets in the win. Melbourne Renegades has a batting order that contains Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet, presenting the potential to stack up 150-160 runs on their day while middle-order batter Eve Jones has shown in the Hundred that she needs time to get going but can come up big time. Courtney Webb also did well in the first game and Renegades may have a better season this time around.
