Brisbane Heat claimed an empathic win after beating the Perth Scorchers by 59 runs. Brisbane made 162/5 batting first and Scorchers only made 103 in reply. This is a revenge of sorts as the Heat lost to the Scorchers in the last game in Super Over after being in a winning position.

The dynamic opening pair of Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne once again got off to a flyer and the pair carved out gaps and ran hard to muster up 68 runs in just 7.4 overs. Devine pinned Grace Harris LBW when she had made 34 runs off 30 balls. However, Georgia Voll continued to go at it and kept the tempo up.

Redmayne and Voll added 44 runs for the second wicket in 36 balls and Voll got out after making 24 off 17 when Betts had her caught. While next batters, Laura Kimmince, Anneke Bosch, and Mikayla Hinkley once again got out cheaply, Redmayne held her end. Then a late flurry by Jess Jonassen, who made 19 runs off just 6 balls, including four swashbuckling fours ensured the team goes past 160. Georgia made an unbeaten 59 runs in 52 balls.

Scorchers began in a disappointing fashion losing their last match’s top scorer Beth Mooney for a duck. Chamari Athapaththu struggled to time the ball and fell soon too, then Devine also followed her. Kapp once again fell early, making just six off 11 balls. Wickets tumbled one after another and the team never looked switched on during the chase, succumbing to multiple bowlers.

Nicola Hancock took three wickets for 19 runs, Grace Harris grabbed three wickets for 16, Poonam Yadav took two wickets for 15 runs while Jess Jonassen and Georgia Prestwidge shared the two other wickets. Wicketkeeper Georgia Redmayne took the Player of the Match Award for her 59 runs and four catches.
