08:50 AM UTC: Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers, Women’s Big Bash League

Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers will tussle it out in the WBBL. Renegades is at the top of the Points table with five wins and just one loss. Meanwhile, Scorchers have three wins and two losses.

Kaur ends what Jemimah begins

The Indian pairing of Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur has been one of the mainstays for the Melbourne Renegades. While Jemimah begins at a quick pace in the start, the middle-order batter Harmanpreet Kaur has been the best at finishing the games in the season so far. Apart from them, Jess Duffin, Eve Jones, and Josephine Dooley have all proved to be reliable and keep their ends usually secure. The batting lineup has clicked for the Renegades more often than not.

Middle-order has been struggling for Scorchers

Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney form one of the best opening pairings in the league, both experience-wise and in respect of run accumulation. They have been making runs but the rest of the batting has not been up-to-the-mark. Chamari Athappathu has looked out of sorts while veteran star Marizanne Kapp has had her worst season batting-wise so far. Chloe Piparo may see another promotion to number after a decent knock of 29 runs.

Both bowling units are lethal

Renegades is a spin-heavy team despite losing stalwart Georgia Wareham for the season. Sophie Molineux has been a major spin option, who can cause damage early in the innings. Meanwhile Ella Hayward and Ellie Falconer have also contributed here and there. Harmanpreet Kaur has been able to both take wickets and keep the runs down while Carly Leeson, Holly Ferling, and Courtney Webb can chip in with decent overs.

For Perth, Kapp who has struggled in terms of bowling has been accurate and gutsy in terms of bowling. Lilly Mills can move the ball pretty well while Alana King is a superb spin bowler. However, finding overs from the fourth-fifth option can be a little troublesome at times with Heather Graham being expensive but Taneala Peschel has turned up with some impressive spells.
