Superstar tennis player Garbine Muguruza added another title to her long list as she claimed the title game for the WTA Finals. The Spaniard beat Estonian Anett Kontaveit 6-3, 7-5.
Beating a tough opponent
After winning the first set, Garbine saw herself down 3-5 in the second set. Kontaveit looked as if she would force a third set but Muguruza went on a superb rally, pulling a 4-0 run to clinch the game and the WTA Finals title. Garbine won five out of 11 tiebreakers and played a clean game, committing 0 double faults.
The decisive lead for Garbine came in the form of receiving points, where she grabbed 43 while limiting Kontaveit to just 19. Kontaveit did show her powerful serve again and clinched 44-38 service points. Kontaveit had lost just 3 of her last 29 games(including this one) and two of the 3 losses came against Garbine during this tournament. Garbine beat Badosa in Semis and also had beaten Barbora Krejcikova earlier, losing to only Karolina Pliskova during the tournament and finishing 4-1.
