World No. 5 Novak Djokovic of Serbia advanced to the final of the Australian Open by defeating American Tommy Paul, the 35th-ranked player in the ATP rankings.
Djokovic won in three sets, 7-5, 6-1, 6-2, in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The Serb is now the second finalist and will play Greek Stephanos Tsitsipas, who is ranked fourth in the ATP.
Djokovic has won the Australian Open nine times. The Serb missed last year's tournament because he refused to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Tsitsipas has never won the Australian Open.
