Chinese tennis player Zhang Shuai refused to continue her first round match at the WTA-250 tournament in Budapest (Hungary) due to a panic attack.

In the opening match of the competition, No.2 seed Zhang Shuai met with the representative of Hungary Amarissa Kiara. The game was interrupted in the first set with the score 6:5 in favor of Amarissa.

When the score was 5:5, the umpire signaled out. Zhang Shuai tried to prove the line umpire's opinion wrong, but the chair umpire did not change it. After this episode, the Chinese player decided to take a medical break, complaining about a panic attack. During the timeout, she broke down in tears and refused to continue the match.

Zhang Shuai is ranked 45th in the world ranking. The 34-year-old Chinese player is the winner of three WTA singles tournaments.
