With a track record that includes a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022 and a bronze from the African Games, Wawira is poised to make her mark on the global stage. She is determined to bring home a medal from Paris and is optimistic about her chances.
In an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net from Paris, Wawira shared her excitement and aspirations. She expressed her desire to add a Paralympic medal to her list of achievements.
The Paralympics is the one major event where I have yet to win a medal. It has been my dream to achieve this, and Paris represents a significant opportunity for me. I believe that with the preparation I’ve undergone, I can make a strong showing and bring a medal back home to Kenya

At 32 years old, Wawira’s journey in para powerlifting began in 2015, following a friend's introduction to the sport. Born with a physical disability, she has defied the odds to become a prominent figure in para powerlifting.
The transition from our training camp in Nairobi to competing here in Paris has been smooth. I’m now fully focused on the competition and ready to showcase my skills. This is my chance to prove that I belong among the best in the sport.
