As if the news of passing away of Track Star Sarah Shulze wasn't enough, in another highly disturbing piece of news, softball player Lauren Bernett has died at the tender age of 20. Her cause of death hasn't been revealed and condolences have been pouring from everywhere. Lauren played for the James Madison University and was recently named "Player of the Week".
UPDATE: Lauren's death has been ruled as suicide.
Our hearts are aching, hearing the news of the loss of one of our student-athletes. We are a tight family. We are grateful that Lauren has been part of our JMU Athletics community and will always consider her to be a Duke. We will miss her dearly.
