Violence continues to haunt football as the Albanian fans threw objects at Polish players. As a result, the match halted for 20 minutes. The pitch got full of plastic bottles and other objects because of which Poland players had to shield themselves. The game between Hungary and England also saw a temporary suspension because the Hungarian fans clashed with the police and stewards.
Poland won the game one-nil and Karol Swiderski’s strike at the seventy-seven-minute mark caused a reaction from the fans. Poland jumped second in the Group standings courtesy of the win. The throwing didn’t stop even after the match ended and goal scorer Karol saw himself at the receiving end but left when Poland’s manager Jakub Kwiatkowski urged him to do away with the interview.
