Relating to the recent demand by many fans to sack Ole Solksjaer after a lukewarm start by Manchester United, Phil Neville, the head coach of MLS outfit Inter Miami gave his two cents. He called social media a “cesspit” and said that if we start asking for the sacking of random people like we do with managers then how it would look? He said that people who write such things on social media don’t realize that the person they are castigating, also has families and a life outside sports.
Social media is an absolute cesspit for people that are just the lowest of the lowest. We live in an era where it's seen as quite normal to ask people to be sacked, which I find absolutely incredible. If you were any other workplace and you walked into a shop and you said, 'I want you to be sacked', I think you would be reported to the police. People don't probably realise that the things they are writing hurt families, hurt human beings, people that have problems in their lives, and nothing gets done about it.
