Two-time World Championship bronze medalist (2019, 2022) American figure skater Vincent Zhou wrote on social media that he is proud to receive a gold medal of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games in the team event.

I can't verbalize the emotions I discovered I could feel since then, but I can share a bit about the roller coaster it's been. The last two years have not been easy, they have taken place in a strange state of uncertainty. Everything was turned upside down, the truth was ridiculed and silence hung over our dreams. I was losing hope. I am infinitely proud of my team and grateful to the fans, I am honored to become an Olympic gold medalist.

On January 30, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) initiated a redrawing of the Olympic tournament results, which initially brought the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team to first place. Now the gold medals will be awarded to the U.S. team, while the Russians will get the bronze medals. This became possible because of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) against 17-year-old Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.

On January 29, CAS found Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules and decided to disqualify the athlete for four years starting from December 25, 2021 - the date the skater submitted the positive doping sample with the presence of the prohibited substance "trimetazidine". All of Valieva's results from the specified period including all awards, medals and prizes, including the gold medal of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in the team event, are nullified.
