The World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) compliance committee has initiated an investigation into the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), according to TASS.
The inquiry into USADA stems from a dispute with WADA following the publication of a doping case involving 23 Chinese swimmers who were cleared ahead of the Tokyo 2021 Games. USADA accused WADA and the International Swimming Federation of concealing potential anti-doping rule violations by the Chinese swimmers. U.S. authorities have backed the claims of the national anti-doping agency.
If USADA loses its compliance status, the hosting of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and the 2034 Olympics in Salt Lake City could be jeopardized.
