The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach has stated that he is ready to swim in the River Seine before the beginning of the Olympic Games in Paris.
Bach was quoted by AD as saying:
I haven't received an invitation yet, but if I do, I'll be happy to do it. I hope it's not too cold
The competitions will take place from July 26 to August 11.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed a similar readiness to swim in the Seine to confirm the cleanliness of the river water.
On April 8, it was announced that the pollution level in the Seine exceeds the norm, raising concerns about holding Olympic swimming competitions.
