Chinese eSportsman and Royal Never Give Up midfielder Lu Somnus Yao has announced his retirement from professional Dota 2.

I guess my youth is bound to have regrets and resentments. Thank you all for your concern and support. My youth is over. Somnus out.

Lu Somnus Yao

Somnus started playing in the Dota 2 pro scene in 2013. He is also known by the nickname Maybe. In 2019, the player finished third at The International with PSG.LGD.

On September 20, Yao left TI11 with his team RNG, ranked 13-16 and earned at least $254,000 in prize money. Almost all members of the team got infected with COVID-19.

The International 11 takes place on October 15-30 in Singapore. Twenty teams are playing for at least $16.9 million in prize money. The winner will receive 45% of the total.
