Polish canoeist Dorota Borowska has been reinstated to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned her suspension.
It was reported that a banned substance was found in the athlete's system. Borowska stated that the substance entered her body through a cream she used on her dog Teddy's paws.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) stated:
The athlete provided evidence that there was an unintentional contact with the prohibited substance found in medication used for treating her dog's injuries.
On August 6, Borowska is set to compete in the women's K2 500-meter event alongside Sylwia Szczerbinska.
Borowska is already a two-time silver and two-time bronze medalist at the World Championships, as well as a silver and gold medalist at the European Championships.
