American figure skater Jon Maravilla has reported that 14 figure skaters, not including family members and coaching staff, may have been on board the plane that crashed in Washington.
I feel numb; it's insanity. Luckily, it wasn't my plane, but I know several skaters, coaches, and families who were on that plane... I don’t want to name names, but there were about 14 skaters on board, their parents and some coaches. It's such a tragedy.

TASS reported that the plane may have been carrying the 1994 World Champions in pairs figure skating, Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.
Earlier reports revealed that the aircraft, which had 64 passengers on board, broke into two pieces after colliding with a military helicopter. Debris was scattered across the Potomac River. At least 18 bodies have been recovered. According to NBC, at least four people survived the crash.
