Esports organization LGD Gaming has announced the signing of a new contract.

The news was announced on the social media platform Weibo, revealing that Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren, who won the 2023 World Chess Championship, has joined the club. Ding made history by becoming the first representative from China to achieve this feat, defeating Ian Nepomniachtchi in the finals. As of the time of this announcement, he ranks 17th in the international FIDE rankings.

Ding will represent LGD Gaming in all upcoming tournaments and will also compete in the Esports World Cup 2025, which is set to take place in the summer.

Previously, the esports organization Team Vitality announced the signing of grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, with the announcement made on social media.

The Esports World Cup 2025 for chess will be held in the summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a prize pool of $1.5 million.
