The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) president, Paul Tergat, has told Telecomasia.net that the body wants to start preparations for the next Games in Los Angeles in 2028 as soon as possible.

Kenya finished 17th overall and top in Africa at the just concluded Games in Paris, France, with a haul of 11 medals, all from the athletics track.

Victory does not start when the first gun sounds at the Olympics. It starts as soon as the last one ends. At the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, we are starting our preparations as soon as now. We want to identify different federations and individual athletes and start supporting them to prepare as soon as possible.

Paul Tergat, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya

Tergat says the Youth Olympic Games set for Dakar, Senegal, in 2026 will be a good platform for Kenya to pluck up and rising talent with an eye for LA ’28.

All our medals came from athletics. In Los Angeles, we want to try and diversify and have different sports giving us medals. That has to start now, and in the next four years, I believe we will have strong teams.

Paul Tergat, President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya

He spoke as Kenya rewarded its athletes with goodies and cash for their exemplary performance in Paris.
