According to Essentially Sports, Japan may withdraw from the International Judo Federation (IJF) as public dissatisfaction grows regarding the perceived unfair outcomes of competitions at the Paris Olympics.

Many believe that judo has strayed from its roots as a legitimate martial art, with different judges interpreting the rules inconsistently. Furthermore, the transparency of judging has been called into question. In response to these concerns, there is a call for the Japanese Judo Federation to leave the IJF and establish an alternative federation.

Judo competitions at the 2024 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 3.
