The Press Information Bureau of the Government of India has announced that the country's authorities are in discussions with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the possibility of hosting the Summer Olympics in 2036.
Reports indicate that national Olympic committees from various countries interested in hosting the Games engage with the Future Host Commission (FHC) on an ongoing basis. After discussions, the IOC Executive Board conducts elections to decide the host country for the Olympics. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has initiated dialogue with the FHC.
Apart from India, four other countries are officially vying to host the 2036 Olympic Games: Mexico, Indonesia, Poland, and Turkey. On May 29, the Relevo publication reported that the potential capital for the 2036 Summer Olympics could be Doha, the capital of Qatar. On June 1, Chilean President Gabriel Boric informed Tercera that the Latin American country is ready to compete for the opportunity to host.
