The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has imposed a lifetime ban on former president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Anders Besseberg from holding official positions in sports organizations.
According to the independent disciplinary body Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU), the CAS issued a favorable ruling in response to a claim from the IBU against the Norwegian.
In April of last year, a Norwegian court sentenced Besseberg to three years and one month in prison. He was found guilty of bribery, was involved in relationships with prostitutes, and enjoyed luxurious hunting trips to Russia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Besseberg led the IBU from 1993 to 2018.
