Olympic champion figure skater Roman Kostomarov had his feet and fingers on his hands amputated because of necrosis, reported "AiF" with reference to a source familiar with the situation.
It is also noted that the athlete's leg to the knee is planned to be amputated.
"Kostomarov, according to our doctors, had both feet and fingers amputated," the newspaper quotes the source as saying.
Recall that since January 10, the figure skater has been in the hospital with a severe form of pneumonia. Kostomarov was connected to a ventilator and ECMO because he couldn't breathe on his own, and he was also kept in a medically induced coma. In late January, Kostomarov regained consciousness and his health began to improve slightly, but doctors had to resort to amputation to save the skater's life because his limbs were necrotic.
